Writing SEO friendly content no longer means frequent use of keywords in your writing to increase keyword density. Now it says more than just telling about optimizing content with the keywords or key phrases. The recent algorithm updates released by Google in the name of Panda, Penguin and Hummingbird have kicked out a number of old tricks.

Write for humans and optimize your content for robots 


Write naturally. Google’s recent MLA (machine language algorithms) prefers natural content than obvious SEO stuff or keyword stuffing.  You should keep a balance between humans and search engines. Focus on your target audience and help the robots find your content easily. 


Forget about increasing keyword density 


Increasing keyword density does not work anymore.  This tenacious SEO tactic in now outdated. Though Google favours a certain keyword density (only .5-1%), but using more is risky. It may affect your ranking. Use relevant keywords and long-tail key phrases naturally in your copy. Cramming keywords forcefully is highly detrimental.


Always use related keywords, words, synonyms and grammatical variations  


Major search engines (like Google, Yahoo, Bing, etc.) use Latent Semantic Indexing (LSI) to match the search results most relevant to the quires or search terms used by the person searching online. It shows exactly to the requirements of the person. Including relevant words, synonyms, related keywords and grammatical variations is the easiest way of creating relevant content. Do not stuff your content with actual keywords.


Utilize Google tilde to find relevant keywords 


Just put ~ before a keyword and make a search, you will get to see the related keywords at the bottom of SERPs (search engine result pages). Insert these keywords in the content to make it more relevant.


Write in-depth, long and quality content 


Now quality content is the king. Therefore, write quality content, including latest data and information. Writing should be long and in-depth. Do a search on the internet to create a well informative and well-researched content. Writing lengthy content is always good. The average web pages ranking on the Google’s SERP (search engine result pages) having over 2000 words. One thing, a content writer should remember here that he should write a lengthy interesting and informative content. He should not write a boring voluminous content only to please search engines. 


Form a long  tail keyword


The relevant keywords are generally high or super competitive. Ranking with them requires a huge effort. This is why forming long tail keywords or key phrases can ensure smaller search volume and higher traffic quality.


Answer your prospect questions   


It is always good making questions related to your products or services and answering them accordingly. It is a very good way of forming long tail key phrase and making your content interactive.


Share your content 


Sharing content on various social media sites (like Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, Pinterest) helps in getting more traffic and links. It definitely increases the visibility of your content.
